Our Story
I believe in my heart that the Lord directed me to begin this ministry. The idea of Petals & Pinecones was birthed in 2006, but allowing fear, low self-esteem and excuses to stop me I suppressed this dream. It is my heart's desire to be obedient to the Lord's direction. Through much prayer and encouragement from others and my husband who is my biggest supporter the vision of Petal & Pinecones came to fruition in 2011.
The Beginning
The idea of Petals & Pinecones was birthed in 2006. Allowing fear, low self-esteem and excuses to stop me from starting this ministry at that time, it would take much prayer from others and encouragement to make this vision come to fruition. My husband is my biggest supporter and has walked along my side every step of the way, encouraging me to pursue my passion. I believe in my heart that the Lord directed me to begin this ministry. It was and continues to be my heart's desire to be obedient to the Lord's direction.
It is my passion to encourage, love and direct young women in their life’s journey to help them believe they are created for a purpose, to love and respect themselves and to be the best they can be in Christ. This is done by bringing young women of various backgrounds, ethnicities, and beliefs together allowing them to share their struggles, concerns, life situations and successes with each other. We believe this helps each of the young women to grow in self-worth, self-image and self-esteem, so they can dare to dream of who they want to become.
Our Ministry
Petals & Pinecones is a Christ-Centered non-denominational, mentoring program designed to meet a specific need that is not currently being met in the Greater Lansing area. There is no other organization in the Lansing area that specifically serves young women ages 13 to 24. Our mission is to mentor young women who come from various backgrounds and ethnicity that share similar struggles, ideals, and beliefs in order to foster trust.
Petals & Pinecones is an organization that provides a safe outlet for young women. Safe from judgment, misunderstanding, gossip and other things that could damage their self-esteem. The group mentoring setting allows the young women to build positive relationships with other young women while also providing real solutions to problems that young women face in today's society.
Behind Our Logo - Life of A Pinecone
A pinecone goes through many stages of opening and closing throughout its life. This process takes 2-years to mature. Its process begins with tiny pink-lilac bristles that turn green prior to development. The objective of the pinecone is to protect its seeds from falling to the ground. Some pinecones can be attached to a Pine tree for up to 10 years. When seeds fall to the ground, they begin the process of becoming a Pine tree starting the process all over again.
Petals & Pinecones will become one of many mentors these young women will encounter throughout their life. With our 2-year program, we encourage the alumni to invest in mentoring others. These young women ages 13-24, come with different backgrounds and experiences yet all go through the struggles of what society claims to be true and what the Bible says is true. Our program exposes the ladies to see their self-worth, self-image, and self-esteem, allowing them to share in a safe environment.
