THE TAMERA COX AWARD
Tamera Cox was an instrumental part of Petals & Pinecones, who served as Co-Chair on the Board of Directors from 2011 until her untimely death in 2015. She served in many other volunteer capacities for Petals & Pinecones in addition to her work as Secretary at Kingdom Life Church and as a social worker. She was a woman of faith who was passionate about helping young women improve their self-esteem and helping young couples strive for strong marriages, and she exemplified the utmost in high integrity and character. We would like to honor Tamera with this award by allowing current and alumni members of Petals & Pinecones to apply for the award by completing an application. One recipient will be honored at the annual dinner with an engraved pillar and a $1,000 check, made possible by an anonymous donor.
2016 – Marisa Albarez - 2016 AWARD WINNER
Our FIRST Tamera L. Cox Pillar Award recipient, Marisa Albarez. Ms. Marisa participated in our 6th group, “One6NotThree”. Ms. Marisa came to P&P in 2012 as a referral by an aunt. A very shy, hesitant young lady would grow to be able to give her testimony in front of about 96 people, she would find the confidence to read and pray out loud and be an encouragement to others in her group. She was a committed member to the program for the 2 ½ years that she was involved. We are proud of her and all that she has achieved.
